Alexey Stadler

Alexey Stadler (born 13 June 1991 in Saint Petersburg) is a Russian cellist.
== Biography ==
Born in a family of musicians, Alexey started to play the cello at the age of 4. He began his studies with Alexey Lazko and continued his education at the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music in St. Petersburg. Alexey participated in master classes with Lynn Harrell, Natalia Gutman, Michael Sanderling, Alexander Rudin and Alexander Knyazev. For the last few years he has been regularly attending master classes with David Geringas and Frans Helmerson. As a soloist he already appeared with such orchestras as the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Ukrainian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie and the Jena Philharmonie among others. Recently he performed “Don Quixote” by R. Strauss under the baton of Marek Janowski – a performance was broadcast on the MDR.〔(MDR Figaro Marek Janowski: "Ich packe sie hart an" (ger.) )〕 As a recitalist, Alexey appeared at such festivals as the “Heidelberger Frühling” and “Mecklenburg-Vorpommern”. In 2012 he participated in the chamber music festival of the Kronberg Academy “Chamber Music Connects the World”, where he performed together with renowned artists such as Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet and Christian Tetzlaff. During the next season Alexey will perform Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No.1 with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra under Maestro Valery Gergiev. The peak of his career up to now was to win the highly remunerated TONALi Grand Prix. Since 2010 he has been studying with Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at the “Liszt School” of Music in Weimar, Germany. Alexey is a scholar of the “Oscar und Vera Ritter-Stiftung” in Hamburg.
